Charter Standard Clubs

The Charter Standard Scheme is a best practice guide that sets standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs. In achieving the award the FA are recognising your club as a benchmark for quality.

Who can get it?
All clubs, regardless of size or status (Adult or youth), can go for Charter Standard status.  The FA has designed the scheme so that you can go for Charter Standard at a level, which best suits your clubs current status.  The scheme ranges from a basic Charter Standard Level right through to the more advanced Charter Standard Community Club Award.

What do we need in place to get it?
The scheme has been designed to highlight good practice, so your club will already have in place a lot of the criteria needed and with those areas in which you are missing information the FA has designed a number of templates for you to adapt to your club, as well as you being able to access support through the Football Development Officer at your local FA.

Why should we get it?

Benefits include:

  • A Plaque for your club to display
  • Use of Charter Standard Crest on strips, tracksuits, letterheads etc
  • Exclusive Regional Workshops and In-Service Training Sessions
  • Kit and Equipment Grants from the FA, UMBRO and the Football Foundation
  • Access to an exclusive UMBRO website
  • National and Regional Awards and prizes which in the past have included kit, money and tickets to games
  • Subsidies for FA Level 1 and other courses
  • Invitation to County Charter Standard festival

But without question the most important reward is that of the hidden benefits – e.g. self promotion to parents, members and sponsors.  It is estimated that 50% of children playing football in the country are playing within a Charter Standard club or school, which means that if you haven’t already got it your club may be left behind.

How do we get it?
To make the process as easy and as time efficient as possible Cumberland FA have designed this initial enquiry form so that you can best judge where you currently are and in what areas you need further assistance.

After completing the initial enquiry form, please contact Ben Snowdon, Football Development Officer on 01900 872310 ext. 21, or e-mail Ben.Snowdon@CumberlandFA.com

If you have any questions or queries regarding the scheme, or this form then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
