Who?
If you are over 16 years of age with experience of both playing and coaching football, and wish to develop your knowledge and experience of coaching the National Game, then this course is ideal for you.
Why?
This qualification offers the opportunity for football coaches to be supported in developing their knowledge of how to effectively plan, conduct and evaluate football coaching sessions. It allows players to improve their basic techniques, and start to develop technical and tactical skills away from the game environment.
This is the first step towards a UEFA ‘B’ Coaching Award, and is used as part of the requirements for amateur football clubs and schools to achieve the appropriate FA Charter Standard status. It will also allow access to full membership and the benefits of the FA Coaches Association (FACA).
What are the entry requirements?
Candidates are required to:
- be qualified at Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
- attend a Level 2 Awareness Day
Please note that prior to certification, candidates are required to present evidence of attendance at:
- The FA Emergency Aid Workshop (or equivalent qualification)
- The FA Safeguarding Children in Football Workshop
(Workshops are provided by Cumberland FA on a regular basis)

The recently revised Level 2 qualification, and its resources have been restructured to provide a more candidate-friendly package. Amongst others these include:
- New practical syllabus linked more closely to the needs of young players
- Nationally developed goalkeeping module
- On-Line Learning – Laws of the Game
