Cumbria Women’s League is now in its fourth season and is part of the Women’s Football Pyramid. Players now have the opportunity to play competitive football without travelling out of the County.
The women’s league is an FA Charter Standard League which has enabled the league to seek additional support from Cumberland FA in the delivery of a development plan. Recently a female Level 1 Award in Coaching Football was delivered to provide current players with the tools to support their own clubs younger age groups.
Pre-season festivals are held annually in Carlisle giving new and established teams the opportunity to prepare for the new season.
Any females aged 16 and over can play in the League. Clubs are hoping to recruit more players to play in the League. If anyone is interested in getting involved in playing, the contacts for the Clubs can be downloaded from the related documents section.
Cumbria Women’s League is also running the Under 16 League to aid the transition of players from youth to adult football.
Last season (season 2010/11) has seen the reintroduction of the Women’s County Cup. This involves all teams in Cumbria allowing competition between the county league teams and those playing in regional leagues. Click here to go to the County Cup page.
