With women’s football in Cumbria moving forward, the Club are hoping to recruit women (aged 16 and over) to play in the newly formed team. The Clubs goal is to enter a team into the Cumbria Women’s League; an immediate start for any would-be footballers to continue playing or to come back into the game.
The Club are working with Cumberland FA to re-start the girls section too – with taster sessions and School-Club Link sessions due to be set up in the local primary schools after Easter. With a newly formed women’s team, it is hoped the next generation of players will also be able to have role models in the town and also a full player pathway to continue playing after junior football.
To kick start the women’s team, there will be an open meeting on Tuesday 23 March 2010 starting at 6.30pm at Keswick Football Club. For further details, or to register your interest please contact Sabrina Shaw on Sabrinashaw@hotmail.co.uk or by calling 07827 688041.
The meeting will be run to provide further information on the plans, as well as recruit potential players, coaches or volunteers. This is a great opportunity for the town, with the nearest women’s Club being in either Penrith or Whitehaven; it is giving local players the opportunity to play Club football.
