Ray Sempill, Football Development Officer at Cumberland FA, said: “We are now six years into Futsal being played as part of our youth leagues’ winter offer. The youth leagues should be commended for their hard work in this area, which sees over 900 players county-wide play each winter. This event in itself saw over 400 girls take part, making it easily Cumbria’s most popular female-only competition in the current domestic season.
“This was the first Futsal event that I have attended personally and it was clear to see that the girls are benefiting from the youth leagues’ winter offer. The standard was excellent on the day and it was great to see so many girls playing with smiles on their faces.
Cumberland FA would like to congratulate all teams that will now go through to the regional finals, with thanks going to all referees and volunteers that made the competition such a success.
