October-Fest Is A Hit For Primary Schools

This month, Cumberland Football Association kicked off its Girls’ Primary School Football Programme for the 2017/18 season.
The friendly festivals welcomed over 120 players from across the county to events taking place in Carlisle, Allerdale, Copeland and Eden.

The Girls’ Primary School Football Programme offers girls in school years 3, 4, 5 and 6 the opportunity to come together and play football in fun, friendly fixtures during October, November, February and March in the form of festivals.

The festivals are perfect for girls who don’t regularly play football outside of school – although players who represent clubs are of course welcome.

The programme is a great tool to support the growth of girls’ football within Cumberland.

Jess Nelson, Women and Girls’ Football Development Officer at Cumberland FA, said: “I’m really pleased with how the programme has kicked off this month. There was a great atmosphere at each festival – and we look forward to welcoming the girls back again next month.
