Mental Health Football to Launch in Workington

Cumberland FA, in partnership with Mind in West Cumbria and GLL, is launching a relaxed mental health football kickabout session at Workington...
The idea is to mirror the success of the Carlisle United project, which currently sees around 20 players enjoying a kickabout twice a week.

Starting on Tuesday 27 February at Workington Leisure Centre, CA14 2DX, the sessions will be held in the indoor sports hall on Tuesdays between 1pm and 2pm – priced at just £1 per person.

Anmol Sandhu of Mind in West Cumbria said: “Mind in West Cumbria are delighted to be working with Cumberland FA to promote the benefits of mental wellbeing through physical activity. We hope these sessions will give people a great opportunity to have fun, gain confidence and try something new and accessible.”

Ray Sempill, Cumberland FA Football Development Officer, added: “I’m looking forward to this programme getting started. We hope to create a relaxed environment for people to come for a kickabout and socialise.”
