Carlisle United Eye Back-to-Back Women's Cups

Carlisle United Ladies will be looking to get their hands on the Cumberland FA Women’s Cup for the second time in two seasons on Friday (11 May), when they face Penrith AFC at Brunton Park from 7:00pm, in a repeat of last year’s final.

Penrith AFC 

Heading into the final full of confidence is Penrith AFC, who are the newly-crowned North West Women’s League Regional Football League Division 1 North champions. This makes them the first women’s team from Cumbria to ever win a regional title. 

Penrith were Division 1 North runners-up in 2016/17 and 2014/15 and have made the Women’s Cup Final in five of their previous six attempts, lifting the trophy on three occasions (2012, 2013 and 2014). Their players will be escorted by the Penrith Angels Girls.

Carlisle United FC Ladies

Carlisle United Ladies are the current holders of the trophy, having beaten Friday’s opponents, Penrith AFC, 1-0 in last season’s final. They were also named champions in 2014/15 and were runners up in 2015/16.

They currently sit third in the North West Women’ Regional League Division 1 North with one game to play. The Carlisle-based team recently secured a 2-1 victory over their cup final opponents in the league. United will be escorted by players from Allerdale Girls FC Under-8 and Under-10 age groups.

Ball girls are being provided by Northbank JFC.

During half-time, Penrith AFC Under-16s will be presented with the Cumberland FA Women’s League Under-16 League trophy. The team are champions for season 2017/18 following their unbeaten league record (seven victories and one draw).

Kitlocker have sponsored the 'Player of the Match', who will received a £50 voucher.
