Cumberland FA recently welcomed Pete Sturgess, FA Technical Lead for the Foundation Phase, to the county to deliver an event around The Foundation Phase England DNA. 
We had an excellent turnout on the evening, with over 50 grassroots coaches in attendance to observe and listen to Pete’s work around the England Foundation Phase DNA. 

The evening consisted of both theory and practical delivery, where Pete gave some rationales for working with the foundation phase players the way he has set out in the England Foundation Phase DNA resource, which can be accessed via the online learning platform, Hive.

Pete has set up some really useful information and demonstrations on the FREE learning platform. Once registered on Hive, coaches can gain lots of tips and advice that you can use in your individual clubs.

There are some excellent resources on the platform which are completely free for anyone to access. This resource is particular useful for any coaches that are working with players between the ages of 5-11, as well as parents and clubs looking at player development plans for their younger players.

Coaches went away from the evening having focused on some key messages around broadening players’ experiences in the foundation phase and giving players what they want, which is to play the game that they turn up for.
