First County Cup Finals of 2020 Confirmed!

Cumberland FA are delighted to confirm the Finalists for the first Cumbrian Cottages sponsored County Cups Finals of the season.

The Under 16 County Cup Finals, previously played as part of the ‘Youth Weekender’ Finals have for the past few seasons been brought forward to support players preparing for their summer exams.

Once again, the Under 16 County Cup Finals will take place at Frenchfield Park, home of Penrith AFC.

The Cumbrian Cottages sponsored County Cup Final brings together the current leaders of both the West Cumbria Youth League and the Carlisle Glass Longhorn Youth Leagues, which promises to be an exciting first Final of 2020!

Workington Wanderers AFC who have a 100% record (at the time of going to press) so far this season in the league have earned their place in the County Cup Final with wins over Northbank JFC, Warwick Wanderers JFC, Cleator Moor Celtic JFC, Workington Rangers, and Castletown JFC.

Top of the table Unisun Athletic JFC beat Abbeytown JFC U15, Maryport Amateurs, Creighton JFC and Abbeytown JFC U16 to book their place in the 2019/20 County Cup Final.

The finalists will know each other well, coming through the age groups in the Carlisle Glass Longhorn Youth League together before joining the Cumberland FA Women’s League (Under 16 Division).

Northbank JFC have defeated Whitehaven AFC Blue and Stanwix JFC Hornets to claim their place in the Final while Abbeytown JFC have wins against Workington Reds Diamonds and Penrith AFC.

This Sunday, the finalists face each other in a league fixture with Abbeytown JFC currently joint top on 22 points with Workington Reds Diamonds. Northbank are currently 5th in the league table.

This year, Cumberland FA will be producing a downloadable programme rather than hard copies available on the day to reduce paper waste.
