Shared service between Cumberland FA, West Cumbria Youth Football League and Workington & District Sunday Football League.

Voluntary Role (Pilot Scheme – Season 22/23)

(An Honorarium payment of between £2000 to £2500 will be made to cover relevant expenses and a benefits package including IT equipment and a mobile phone will be provided – to be discussed and agreed with successful candidate)

About the Role

The Cumberland Football Association (CFA), The West Cumbria Youth Football, League and The Workington & District Sunday Football League are looking to recruit a Joint League Secretary to manage CFA leagues (Ability Counts Disability League, Girls U16 League, Women’s Summer League and Veterans League (Summer League)), The West Cumbria Youth League and The Workington & District Sunday League.

The role will encompass working alongside the respective leagues existing managements committee to manage and co-ordinate the respective leagues.

This exciting post is a voluntary position with the expected hours needed to fulfil the role anticipated to vary depending upon the time of year and will managed by the successful individual. The proposal is that this role is home based, however there will be space provided at Cumberland FA’s Offices in Cockermouth should the individual wish to work from there. The logistics and practicality of the role can and will be discussed, if required, as the role will need to have a flexible approach to hours worked, as there will be some work during weekend and evenings.

This is a great opportunity to start a career in football, with potential opportunities to further progress, or to simply be further involved and give something back to the game and local communities, whilst also providing an additional source of income.  The role will include access to training, networking and personal development opportunities and is seen as a perfect role for someone who is passionate and committed to supporting the delivery and development of a variety of different formats of the game within grassroots football in the county.

This vital role will require a proficient administrator. You will need to have good organisational skills, good interpersonal skills, be approachable and be able to always communicate effectively and professionally.

The role will require the individual to be contactable by telephone/e-mail, be IT literate, work unsupervised and be able to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Due to the nature of role the individual will be expected to attend a CFA Induction and either already possess or be willing to undertake an FA Enhanced DBS Criminal Records Check and FA Safeguarding training prior to commencing the role. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.

This role would report directly into the respective League Chairs and would be managed by a Joint League Liaison Management Committee.

The role is part of a season (22/23) pilot scheme which, all being well, is anticipated to continue well beyond this period and may also see additional investment with additional leagues joining the scheme in the future.
