Cumberland FA is delighted to announce that Carlisle-based referee, Dan Forbes, has been promoted by The FA to Level 4.

Dan’s promotion means that he will operate as a referee at Step 5/6 and as an assistant referee at Step 3/4 as of the 2023/24 season.

“I’m delighted for Dan, as this is now the start of a journey that will hopefully take him into the professional game in the coming seasons,” said Cumberland FA’s Referee Development Officer, Scott Taylor, pictured above with Dan.

“Getting to this level isn’t easy, as you have to successfully navigate your way through grassroots football and excel on the parks. That means managing Sunday and Saturday games of open-age football and ensuring the Laws of the Game are applied consistently.

“Dan has also passed an exam and fitness test to gain this fully-deserved FA promotion to Level 4,” added Scott.

“We wish Dan well for the new season, and look forward to seeing future promotions as he sets his sights on the National League System.”
