Autumn 2024 CFA Referee Course
We're pleased to be delivering an FA Referee Course at the CFA Office in Cockermouth on Friday 4 October, 5.30pm - 9.30pm.
Scott Taylor, Cumberland FA Referee Development Officer, said: “This summer we tweaked our Cumberland FA referee courses a little to meet our needs in Cumberland. Our referee courses now comprise of a 1-day theory element and build on the knowledge attained from the pre-course online FA learning and a practical element that is linked to a local youth league mini soccer festival.
"We feel this gives course candidates (especially those U18) the vital matchday experience of refereeing proper teams, communicating with coaches, and being aware of spectating parents.
"We’ve been able to do this due to the good work the County FAs has done with our supportive partner leagues and as a result we’ve been able to reduce the referee course fee for Season 24/25 down to £80 (a decrease of 38.5%).
"Anyone interested in becoming a referee must first take the free online FA Laws of the Game qualification and have the appropriate level of FA Safeguarding education.
"Due to a shortage of referees in West Cumbria we have put on another referee course at the CFA Office in Cockermouth at the beginning of October, but please note candidates need to be available to then referee at our mini soccer festivals in West Cumbria during October. See the booking link for more details and festival dates.”
