The Cumberland to Sponsor Ability Counts League

Cumberland FA is delighted to announce that The Cumberland Building Society will sponsor its successful Ability Counts League from 2018 to 2021.

The three-year sponsorship deal will see the league be renamed The Cumberland Ability Counts League, with the financial support received as a result expected to aid the league’s growth and sustainability.

Formed in 2011, the Ability Counts League offers regular playing opportunities to disabled players aged 16 and over. Fixtures are held once a month between March and October, with teams from across Cumberland taking part at a central venue.

Ray Sempill, Cumberland FA Football Development Officer, said: “We are delighted to be going into a new partnership with The Cumberland. Our organisations have worked well together on projects in the past and we share the overall aim of making a difference to communities.

“I have been very impressed with their work with the Alzheimer’s Society and their commitment to tackling social exclusion. We look forward to working together during the upcoming Ability Counts League seasons.”

Becky Towns, The Cumberland’s Community Fund Co-ordinator, added: “We’re delighted to sponsor the Cumberland FA’s Ability Counts League and we’re excited about being able to support their plans to grow the league. As a building society we’re keen to support organisations that make a real difference to our communities, and the Ability Counts League provides both physical and social benefits to those taking part.”
