Dementia Friendly Walking Football Coming to Workington!

Cumberland FA are delighted to announce the Allerdale Walking Football (Dementia Friendly) sessions will be begin in a new venue in January!

Ray Sempill (Football Development Officer) saidWe’re delighted to be working in partnership with Workington Leisure Centre to bring Walking Football opportunities in the West of Cumberland. These sessions are dementia friendly and for anyone who feel like they would enjoy a more inclusive version of walking football.”

The weekly sessions will be delivered to the needs of the group, with warm up exercises, followed by football related games at walking pace. The activities are designed to improve balance, circulation and general health

The social aspect of the session is very important; therefore, each session will finish with a cake and a cuppa.

Before the sessions begin, Cumberland FA are hosting an open session for practitioners and anyone connected with individuals who might benefit from the session. Please contact Ray to express your interest in attending the open session.

Dementia Friendly Walking Football in Carlisle

The 2018 Cumberland FA and McDonald’s Grassroots Football Awards Community Project of the Year was the Carlisle Dementia Friendly Walking Football Centre.

After Christmas the sessions restart at Botcherby Community Centre, Carlisle on Friday 10th January 2020.

Sessions are every Friday 1:30-2:30 (2:30-3:00 cuppa).

Following the success of the sessions, they will now form part of the GP exercise on referral scheme.
