Following the completion of Round 1 of the Cumbrian Cottages sponsored Cumberland Cup, we can now confirm the teams who have been nominated for the ‘Team of the Round’.

Cumberland FA would like to thank Cumbrian Cottages for their support in re-establishing this element of the Cumberland Cup. The Team of the Round was a popular addition to the competition in the past, giving teams the chance to win £100 worth of equipment for defying the odds in the Cup competition. 

The nominated teams are:


Crown Newlaithes FC won 9-2 against Langwathby United FC. Currently 3rd in Division 1 of the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League, Crown Newlaithes FC defeated the Westmorland League team

Kirkoswald FC beat Whitehaven Miners 7-3. Currently 7th in Division 1 of the James Cropper Westmorland Football League, Kirkoswald FC who have recently celebrated their 50th anniversary defeated the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League team.

Silloth FC lost 3-2 to Whitehaven AFC in the first round. The Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League side gave Whitehaven AFC a real scare in the tie, eventually losing 3-2.

Northbank FC beat AFC Carlisle 6-0 in the 1st Round. Currently second in Division 1 of the Smurfit Kappa Cumberland County League, the team have reformed this season and defeated the Westmorland League team.


Voting is now open until 12 noon on Saturday 9 November 2019.

Once the public votes are in, Cumberland FA’s Team of the Round Panel will also cast their votes to determine the winner of ‘Cumberland Cup Team of Round 1’. The winning team will receive a £100 Kitlocker Voucher thanks to Cumbrian Cottages.

The 2nd Round of the Cumbrian Cottages sponsored Cumberland Cup is already underway. Carlisle City FC and Workington AFC have already secured their place in the Quarter Finals. There are two fixtures this evening with the majority of the ties taking place this Saturday.
