SAFEGUARDING IN OPEN-AGE FOOTBALL

Cumberland FA is consistently working to ensure that football is a safe and enjoyable experience For All.

In January 2020 The FA contacted all open-age adult football clubs and leagues across the country to advise and support them of their safeguarding responsibilities for U18’s and adults in disability teams.

In brief, every open-age adult club with Under 18 players is required to ensure that they have safeguarding measures in place.

In addition to this, clubs with adult disability teams are also required to promote safeguarding adults across all aspects of their club.

Many clubs will already meet the criteria, particularly those that also offer Youth football as these requirements have been in place for some time.

Copies of these documents can be found below.

Cumberland FA Designated Safeguarding Officer Mel Sandwith said We are committed to ensuring that football within the county is a safe and enjoyable experience for all.  We will be working closely with adult clubs and leagues to support them with the new safeguarding requirements.  Anyone with any questions is encouraged to contact us for advice”.
