Walking Back To Football
Football for Over 50s is already back up and 'Walking' across the County, with a number of the Walking Football Centres holding weekly sessions following the national ‘Return To Play’.
The enthusiasm from the Centre’s at a recent online meeting has meant that the first Match Day of 2021 has now been confirmed, with players eager to get back to playing.
Match Day 1 will be a ‘friendly’ 6 v 6 event; with no scores kept in order to encourage participation from established teams as well as encouraging new teams or individuals to enter.

What Is Walking Football?
The format for Over 50s where only walking is allowed has encouraged many retired players to come back to the game as well as introduce some new players to the game.
Many of the Walking Football Centres are about more than the kick about each week. As well as training and matches, the Centres give players an opportunity to get together and socialise.

Ray Sempill, Football Development Officer for Cumberland FA said: “Since the ‘Return To Play’ nationally, the Walking Football Centres across Cumberland have been flourishing. During an online meeting last week, all Centres reported great numbers as well as a keen appetite to return to competition.
The Walking Football Committee are delighted to confirm the details for the first event of the year and are hoping to see some new faces too.”
