James Cumberland FA

Farewell to James

FDO James Moves On

Today marks the end of an era at Cumberland FA, with Football Development Officer James Reid completing his final day with the County FA for pastures new.

James joined Cumberland FA in May 2013 as temporary cover and has been supporting grassroots football across the county for the past 8 years.

Leading on Clubs and Coach Education, James has worked with local grassroots volunteers raising the standards of local football through The FA Charter Standard Award (which has now become England Football Accredited).

Ben Snowdon, Cumberland FA CEO said: We are extremely saddened to see James leave the county FA, but understand his reasons and he leaves with our best wishes in his new career.

James was well known to us when he came to work at the CFA, as he had previously played for the county squad becoming its most capped player during this time.

Being involved in the game locally gave him a unique understanding and passion for the grassroots game within the county.  I think this was his major strength as he worked tirelessly to try and make a difference in a game and an area he so clearly cared for.

He will be missed both professionally and personally by all those involved in the County FA, but he leaves knowing that the game is in a better place thanks to him and his work.”

Ahead of his departure, James said “It’s been a pleasure to meet and work with so many people from across the grassroots game in Cumberland and beyond.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last 8 years in the roll and hope that I have a played a small part in improving the grassroots game within the county.

I’ll hopefully see most of you all on the grassroots circuit moving forward as I begin the journey as a volunteer coach with my son. Thanks for all your help and support as grassroots volunteers over the years.

Cumberland FA would like to thank James for his efforts during his time supporting the grassroots game across the county and wish him all the best for his new role.
