As with all Leagues this season, the Cumberland FA Girls Under 16 League (known as the Andrea Buggy Women’s League for 2021) was interrupted.

However thanks to the determination of the coaches, players and parents the league fixtures were completed and Cup competitions were also arranged to give the girls playing opportunities, in what for some could be their final year of Youth football. 

The break in play and reduced number of weeks available, meant teams played each other once in the league. 

With a 100% record Northbank JFC 1970 U16 Girls were crowned Champions for season 2020-21! 

Kendal United U16s were second with Cockermouth JFC U16s in third place. The county wide league also saw Abbeytown JFC U16, Whitehaven AFC JFC U15, Workington Diamonds U16, Stanwix Hornets U16s and Whitehaven AFC U16s compete and once the league fixtures were completed, attention turned to the League cup competitions. 

Four trophies were up for grabs and following the preliminary rounds the League Finals day was played at two venues across the county.

Craig Lewis from Cumberland FA said “ This year has been challenging for everyone and the way the clubs, teams, players and volunteers have handled the situation has been nothing short of remarkable. Each club has been a pleasure to work with this season and I’m so pleased we were able to finish the league fixture programme and provide the 4 cup finals for the girls to enjoy. I’d also like to thank everyone for their commitment and patience this season and we hope to welcome teams back again for the new season”
