Walking Football in Cumberland

Walking Football Champions Crowned!

Carlisle United Community Trust are the 2021 Walking Football Champions!

The 2021 Cumberland Walking Football season was brought to a close on Sunday 21 November with all to play for.

The league fixture programme began in August with teams playing a number of games at each monthly ‘fixture date’ in various places across Cumberland. The league has always ‘gone on the road’ to encourage more teams across the county entering to reduce journey times for some of the fixture dates.

With two wins, a draw and a defeat Carlisle United Community Trust were crowned Champions of the 2021 League on Sunday!

Workington St Joseph’s Blue were once again runners up, after claiming 2nd spot in 2019 too.

Ray Sempill from Cumberland FA said: “Walking Football is growing in Cumberland with more Walking Football centres than ever before across the county offering opportunities for returning or new players aged 50 and over at a pace to suit them. The 2021 season has been focussed on restarting and rebuilding on the success of 2019 after the forced break.

We hope to grow next season and have aim to have 2 divisions within the next 2 years”
