We’re delighted to welcome the two finalists, match officials, volunteers and guests this evening in what should be a great advert for the local grassroots football game. Both Carlisle City and Wetheriggs are currently in good league form ahead this evening’s Cumberland Cup meeting.

Cumberland FA would like to thank hosts Penrith AFC, who will also be hosting the Sunday Cup and Women’s Cup Final over the next couple of weeks.

Since Carlisle City FC last lifted the Cumberland Cup trophy in season 2003/4 there have been 5 different Champions of the Senior Cup competition. On their route to this evening’s Final Carlisle City defeated two of them. Workington AFC and Carlisle United FC have won 11 of the previous 15 competitions.

Wetheriggs United FC, with two recent Cup Final defeats will be looking to continue their Cumberland Cup form to lift the Cumberland Cup for the first time. The Penrith based team previously reached the Final in 1987/88.

Referee Scott Henry takes charge of his first Cumberland Cup Final and is assisted by Kevin Mulraine and Tommy Linford with John Mulligan as fourth official.
