Dawn Walk

Dawn Walk for Footballers

Walking Footballers from Penrith swapped Football for the Fells to raise money for local charity

Walking Footballers from Penrith tested themselves away from the pitch for the recent Dawn Walk organised as a fundraiser for Hospice at Home (Carlisle and North Lakeland).

8 members of the team began their day with a cruise on Ullswater from Glenridding to Howtown before walking 7 miles back to their start point along the lakeshore path (part of the Ullswater Way).

John Rogerson, Vice Chairman of Cumberland FA and a member of the team commented: Our walking football team is a social group and we’re always keen to get involved in different activities for us to do together. Everyone enjoyed the day even though it was hard going at times, and we’re delighted with the amount we have raised for a fantastic local charity.

The Penrith Walking Footballers raised £1250 for Hospice at Home during the 25th Anniversary Dawn Walk.
