Teams across Cumberland will be ‘Lacing up’ to ‘Keep Up’ the support for LGBTQ+ inclusion as the Rainbow Laces campaign enters its tenth year.
During this time, over one million people have laced up to show that they believe sport should be everyone’s game. The vision today is the same as it was then: a world where LGBTQ+ people feel welcome to watch and participate in sport - at all levels. Despite huge gains, there is still much to do to make LGBTQ+ people feel welcome in sport.
Almost 200 Rainbow Laces have been allocated to Cumberland FA based teams and Clubs with this year’s campaign having a focus on ‘Lace Up to Keep It Up’ as well as ongoing support to LGBTQ+ communities.
The campaign will run between 25th November and 10th December 2023.

Sport and fitness is an important part of so many of our lives – it has the power to bring people together, and to improve our mental and physical health. But too many LGBTQ+ people still feel confronted with a choice between loving their sport and being their true selves.

We’re challenging the Cumberland Football community to take part in the Stonewall #KeepItUp Challenge to share with the world what your Team / Club are going to do to 'Keep Up' for LGBTQ+ inclusion.
A number of Cumberland FA staff will be taking part in the 10 second keep up challenge, so we’re challenging all teams to have a go at the 10 second #KeepItUp Challenge and share across social media. Even better to share the message on how you will ‘keep up’ for LGBTQ+ inclusion! Tag us @CumberlandFA
