Play Safe Competition for Mini Soccer Teams!
The Cumberland FA and Westmorland County FA Play Safe competition is here!
We are giving mini soccer players across both counties the opportunity to win a game at either Kendal Town, Workington or Carlisle United.
English football is set to unite again over the above weekend to promote Play Safe – a countrywide campaign to focus attention of the vital importance of safeguarding in our national game.
Led by The Football Association, the Play Safe campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and will be supported this weekend across every level of English football, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, and across the grassroots game.
This season we are asking EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE – clubs and leagues at every level of the game, (and individuals if they wish) – to tell us what they are planning to do to make a difference over the Play Safe weekend and to share this via an online Play Safe Pledge, which was sent to all Junior Club Secretaries (18/08/23).
We will be giving all mini soccer players a bingo card!
When your players receive the bingo card there will be series of tasks, once they are completed, you just need to e-mail us a picture of the card crossed off and the relevant boxes filled.
The four tasks are:
- Try my best in training or a match
- Shake hands with my opponents or teammates
- Shout encouragement to my teammates
- Have my Parent, carer or guardian complete the FREE online Parents Safeguarding course.
The prizes will be:
Carlisle United - Brunton Park
Westmorland v Cumberland Fixture
Kendal Town - J Robs Grounds Maintenance Stadium
Westmorland v Westmorland Fixture
Workington - Bourgh Park
Cumberland v Cumberland fixture
The matchday experience will be in line with FA regulations and will include:
• Access to changing rooms
• Walk out from tunnel, including music
• Match Day Programme
• FA Appointed Match Officials
• Teams being read out on the PA system
• Matches played on the main pitch within the stadium
All youth clubs with mini soccer teams playing within CFA sanctioned leagues will be sent Play Safe Bingo Cards.
Players, supported by their parent, carer or guardian, are asked to complete the card, including the 4 tasks, and once done take a picture or scan and return it to Safeguarding@CumberlandFA.com
The competition will launch this weekend and will be open for 4 weeks, with details of the draw to follow. Only 1 entry per player/child will be accepted.
If you wish to get a head start, the bingo card is below as a free download and there is also a link to the safeguarding course.
