Cumberland FA County Cup Finals

County Veterans Trophy Final Preview

This Friday two teams will be aiming to make history and win Cumberland FA’s County Cup in the Veterans age category.

Following Frizington White Star Veterans FC appearance in the Final for the previous two seasons (runners up in 2013 and going one better to win in 2014), both Harraby Catholic Club Veterans FC and Hall Park Hotel Veterans FC will be playing for the title of County Champions.

With both teams having been crowned Coleridge Stores Cumbria Veterans Football League Champions in their respective divisions this season (Harraby Catholic Club Veterans FC winning the 1st Division with Hall Park Hotel Veterans FC collecting the trophy in the 2nd Division) the Final is a chance for one of the Club’s to do the ‘double’!

Arguably the favourites following their 100% record this season, Carlisle based Harraby Catholic Club Veterans FC will be taking nothing for granted against their West Cumbrian opponents buoyed on by their own success in Division 2 this season!

The 2015 season has seen Maurice Bewley Electrical coming on board as a partner to support the grassroots game in the County by sponsoring the County Veterans Competition.

We are delighted that Penrith AFC will be hosting the Final this season.

THE TEAMS

All the talk will be about the two teams playing to win the County Veterans Trophy, but the game wouldn’t be going ahead without the ‘third’ team, the Officials.

The Officials for Cumberland FA County Cup Finals are selected following a season long process with referee’s performances taken into account rewarding the consistent decision makers in what can sometimes be an almost impossible role in the game.

Cumberland FA are delighted to confirm the Officials for the 2015 County Veterans Trophy Final:

Referee: Ian Rumney
Assistant Referees: John Burns and David Sellars
4th Official: Geoff Ellison

Hall Park Hotel Veterans FC

Hall Park Hotel Veterans FC have played for several seasons in Division 2 of the Coleridge Stores Cumbria Veterans Football League and in 2015 became 2nd Division Champions!

Manager Sean Monaghan commented on the upcoming Final “We are pleased to have reached our first ever final!”

Harraby Catholic Club Veterans FC

In their debut season at the Over 35’s age group, Harraby Catholic Club Veterans FC have had a memorable one. The Club were recently crowned Coleridge Stores Cumbria Veterans Football League Division 1 Champions after going through the season with a 100% league record!

The Club were formed in February 2015 with players who had previously played for Harraby Catholic Club FC in the Northern Alliance joining veteran players who had played for Carlisle Zimmers Veterans FC.

Cumberland FA would like to wish both teams the best of luck for the Final!
