Entries OPEN for Veteran's and Women's Leagues

Entries are now OPEN for TWO Cumberland FA run leagues

Throughout the season, Cumberland FA deliver a number of leagues across the county catering for a number of formats. 

Entries are now OPEN for the following Cumberland FA run Leagues:

- Men’s Over 35s (Veterans)

- Women’s League

Men’s Over 35s Veterans

The popular league provides Monday evening fixtures, from April to September for male players aged 35 and over.

The 2023 season saw the regional format continued to reduce traveling with teams playing in either the North & East Division or the West Division depending on their locations.

Almost 400 players took part in 2023 with 23 teams offering opportunities for over 35s to play during the ‘summer’ season.

Male Veterans Team Entry is now open and closes on 5pm on Monday 12th February 2024.

The AGM will be held at the CFA Office in Cockermouth on Monday 26th February 2024 at 6.45pm

The proposed start date for League fixtures is Monday 15th April 2024.

CMC Veterans West League winners

Women’s League

The women’s league moved to the ‘summer’ in 2015 and provides 9-a-side Wednesday evening fixtures, from April to September for female players aged 16 and over.

Last season 11 teams entered the league and cup competitions with more than 200 women registered.

Entries are now open and must be received by 5pm on Friday 16th February 2024.

Stanwix Ladies

The AGM will be held on Wednesday 6th March 2024, at 7pm

The proposed start date for League fixtures is Wednesday 17th April 2024.

More information regarding the format of the league and additional competitions will be provided following the entry closing date.

To support women across the county with playing opportunities throughout the winter months, Cumberland FA have delivered monthly festivals and now with just one festival to go before the 9v9 League kicks off, the countdown is on!

Walking Football | Age 50+

The monthly cross county fixture programme brings all teams together in a round robin format. 

6-A-Side - Age 50+ & 65+ Categories - Once a month games programme from March to October (Sunday AM)

With no running, jogging or heading – and tackling with reduced physical contact – Walking Football is a fun and safe way for players to enjoy football and socialise together. 

There are currently walking football centres in Carlisle, Penrith, Workington and Gretna so there are plenty of opportunities to play if you’re interested in getting involved.

Ability Counts

Some exciting news has just been announced to support the successful Ability Counts League! 

Komatsu Forest Ltd have come on board to sponsor the Cumberland FA Ability Counts League from 2024 to 2027. With more than 200 players from across the county playing in 7 separate division’s last year, we’re looking forward to finalising details of the 2024 season very soon!

Turn Up and Play Sessions

Any women aged 35 and over are invited to come along and play – with any experience welcome. 

The popular events are played in a friendly atmosphere as we aim to increase the number of playing opportunities for this age group. With venues in Carlisle, Workington and

Penrith there are opportunities for women across the county to join their local session.

Mental Health Football Sessions 

Our Mental Health Football Sessions take place on Thursdays, 5:30-6:30pm, at Workington Leisure Centre.

The sessions are FREE and open to anyone aged 18+ who feel like they may benefit, regardless of ability or fitness.
