Girls Football Week 2017 Plain

Girls' Football Week Is Coming – Get Involved

The FA Girls’ Football Week will be taking place across the country between 6 and 10 November 2017 – and we want as many girls in Cumberland...
A national campaign aimed at raising the profile of female football, Girls’ Football Week aims to double the number of women and girls playing football nationally by 2020. Across the nation in 2016, a total number of 130,000 girls took part in sessions delivered in schools, colleges, universities, clubs, community groups and various other organisations.

During FA Girls’ Football Week, we’ll be gearing up to encourage football activities for girls, which can include playing, training or even learning more about our national game.

This is where you come in.

Organisations can register their on-going activities as part of the week – or even start something brand-new to kick-start girls’ football. Girls’ Football Week is a great opportunity to recruit new players and volunteers.

Here are a few other ideas about how to get involved in Girls’ Football Week:

-    Take a friend to training and introduce them to football
-    If you’re a primary school, why not link a session with your local club?
-    Join in a new Under-8 training session
-    Take part in one of the county’s female kickabout sessions
-    Participate in our Over-30s kickabout
-    Use the week recruit female volunteers

Jess Nelson, Women and Girls’ Football Development Officer at Cumberland FA, said: “The week is a great opportunity to showcase female football at every level in Cumberland. We hope to inspire new and existing players, as well as volunteers.

“We are encouraging schools, clubs and community groups to register their activity, whether it’s just a regular training session or something new to bring new players in. The online registration only takes a couple of minutes and will help build a menu of activities for girls to search and take part in, forming part of the national week of football.”

Cumberland FA would love to hear any ideas you may have in assisting us in doubling female participation across our county.
