The FA’s Disability Talent Selection for Cumberland players

The FA’s Disability Talent Selection Team are pleased to announce a number of trial dates ahead of its ‘Home Nations’ tournament in April 2016.

Male players between the ages of 16 and 19, with a Learning Disability, are invited to attend a trial in February 2016.  Trialists must be able to provide statement or a supporting headed letter from a school, college or LEA confirming that the individual has received special education.

There are a number of trial dates and venues for players to select; below are the two closest to Cumbria:

• North - Sunday 21st Feb at West Riding FA, Fleet Lane, Woodlesford, Leeds, LS26 8NX  (10.30 to 13.00) contact James.Doyle@WRCFA.com to register.

• Midlands - Sunday 28th  February 2016 at the Moat House, Coventry, CV21DX (10.30 to 13.00) contact Rafe.turner@birminghamfa.com to register.

Anyone wishing to attend or would like further information should contact either James (North) or Rafe (Midlands) directly. Registration deadline is Friday 12th February 2016.

Jess Nelson, Football Development Officer (Inclusion) said, ‘This is a perfect opportunity for some of our County Ability Counts players and those involved in our Youth Inclusion programme to test themselves in an elite environment.’

Cumberland FA are currently delivering its third year as part of the FA’s Disability Football Development Fund, with a key focus on reaching out to Day Services, Children’s Centres and  Special Schools to raise awareness and increase participation in the game.
